Website Traffic and valid Visitors
If you own a website, you probably already know that finding visitors is much more difficult than creating the website itself. That is why many websites struggle to be effective, make a profit and many eventually fail dismally. You can have the greatest looking site in the world, but without visitor traffic, is there any point?
You ask "how do I get visitors to my website?" There are thousands of "gurus" on the Web that would like you to believe there is a special secret formula for getting traffic, and only they have this "secret". For a high price, they will share their secret with you and the floodgates will open easily. If only it were this easy ... we'd all be rich!
There are three main aspects of Internet marketing that you must concentrate on and understand better than anything else:
- Quality page content i.e. the TEXT on your pages
- Website visibility i.e. Search engine exposure in search result listings
- Link backs to your site from authority sites
Rome wasn't built in a day and neither will your internet traffic. There are quick, effective, and quite inexpensive methods of driving traffic to your site. We will guide you through your Search Engine Optimization process (or we can do the whole thing for you).
Our definition of Search Engine Marketing (SEO)
Search Engine Optimization is the art and science of tweaking your web presence to maximize your Search Engine visibility and this will lead to higher search engine exposure (ranking) to drive customers to your website. This is known as "generic traffic" and you DO NOT have to take out a mortgage to pay for this traffic!
Anybody with a computer can put up a website, but to get people to visit that website, and perhaps make a purchase, requires much more. Unless you have a unique marketing niche and USP (unique selling proposition), there are literally thousands or even millions of websites offering the same thing that you offer. In order to make your website stand out, one thing you can do is use the techniques of SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
Search engines are important to an internet business because it has been estimated that about 85% of website visitors arrive through a search engine listing.
Performing some sort of SEO optimization on a website will enable search engines to more efficiently find, index, rank, and present your information to as many users (aka customers) as possible.
There are many possible on-page or off-page techniques involved in search engine optimization, such as proper use of keyword meta tags, good HTML coding, use of quality text content including unique keywords, and inbound linking from relevant sites to name but a few.
We strongly believe that any SEO Specialist should first focus on content and niche visibility and then, if necessary, worry about rankings in the major search engines later.
Quality Content not Quantity Rubbish
Most websites lack quality content. They may be beautiful and artistically designed, have flashy graphics and sound, but none of this will impress the search engines or attract visitors.
Quality, TEXT-BASED content is the only thing the SEs (search engines) really care about on your Web pages. Provide plenty of that and you are on the road to success.
Your visitors will be appreciative of an informative, content-based site. The more unique information you can provide to visitors, the longer they will remain on your site and the more trust you will have gained. Visitors who leave with nothing have no reason to come back to your site and no reason to purchase from you.
If you can enrich their visit with hard facts, or useful or entertaining content, then you are greatly increasing the chance that they will purchase your product or service and come back for more.
Search Engine "Spiders" also love "fresh" or new content and most search engines and spiders now also calculate the Code to Text Ratio of a page i.e. what the percentage of actual text in a web page is. A higher code to text ratio gives you a better chance of getting a good page ranking for your page.
Sites that don't change much are indexed less frequently and and because of this, tend to lose page ranking and visibility. So also try to add new content as often as possible.
Top ranking in Google Search Listings is everything!
... Sorry, we don't agree!
- The accepted thinking in the e-marketing world it that your success depends on the the ranking of your website pages in Google. When someone does a search, it is believed that your website HAS to appear on page 1 of the search results. There are quite strict Google rules and guidelines of how to do this and if "black hat" tricks and techniques of SEO are used to achieve this, your website could get banned from Google. NOT GOOD!
- Don't believe the so-called guru's who "guarantee" that they will get you in the Number 1 position for any of your "search keywords" - they don't know how competitive your market is, they usually use "backdoor" tactics and when your site gets bumped by Google, you are the one to suffer trying to get back into Google's good graces.
- The ONLY "trick" that you should be using is to make sure that the content on your website is of high quality. This means that it has interesting, usable information that is unique from everything else that is out there. It needs to be creative, practical, and well written. Improving and increasing your website's unique content should be your main focus. All search engines LOVE good information and content so we believe that you should first be asking "How do I improve my website's TEXT CONTENT? What unique, quality content can I put on my site to make it special?
- This means that re-writing your competitor's material is out of the question, and simply copying content from the public domain is completely useless. You need to think about what your company (website) is really about, and come up with your own unique angle and thoughts that will be interesting and useful to your readers.
This is not at all easy, and may require the assistance of a writing and web content professional to get you started, but it should be considered a long-term investment that will be well worth your effort when you start to turn the traffic that you do have into a high percentage of new and returning customers.
Your site must be different and use exceptional text content - this is what will keep the visitors coming back again and again.
So forget about the idea of getting onto the first page of a Google search page - that will come with time. Your SE ranking will improve because of having good quality content, and you will, by extension, increase your traffic and increase your ranking at the same time. It's a process that takes time and requires effort on your part or you can hand over this drudgery to us to complete for you.
Inbound Links for SEO
Quality, relevant links from another site pointing to your site, are becoming more important every day. The SEs are placing more emphasis on these inbound links in their algorithms, and for good reason. Each inbound link pointing to your site is like a "vote" of confidence in the eyes of the search engines.
- But not all links are good. Links from unrelated sites on completely different topics are almost useless and a waste of your time trying to acquire them.
- The SEs are looking for relevant, related, quality links from websites in the same category or in a complementary category as yours.
- We seriously recommend against using any sort of "link farms" tricks - the SEs will kill you!
- Search engines take the number, quality, and relevancy of your inbound links into consideration when ranking your site. In fact, backlinks, or inbound links, account for over half of the factors that determine your rankings.
It can be difficult to get these all important inbound links. But with a bit of dedication and time, good backlinks can help you boost your site's search engine rankings.
